It was not only Thanksgiving but also my hostmum's birthday. We celebrated it a little bit earlier in order to use the day of her birthday for cooking. And yes, we cooked more than one day. Sweet potatoes, green bean cassarole, homemade bread, stuffing, cranberry salad, pumpkin pie, pecan pie... A lot of food! And I made a German cheesecake and for the first time in my life scratchmade Knödel. My family loved them. Thanksgiving is a day for the family. So my hostgrandparents came over and we played games and talked. It was really nice. We also went for a walk after dinner, which i really needed because i was so stuffed. And all in all, I have to say: Thanksgiving reminds me a lot of Christmas. Except that you have turkey instead of goose (or in my case, none of both. But I didn't miss it at all.) and you have a tree in your living room. But it smelled and felt really close to German Holy Evening. Talking about trees, we will set ours up pretty soon. Ours is plural: We will have three of them. But I'm in America, so of course: Plastic ones. Well, only three weeks of school left and then I have Christmas break. The next big festival. And honestly: I already miss the snow.

Wow, I can't believe it. Time is running by so fast. Now Thanksgiving, the festival I was waiting for for weeks, is already over. But it was definitely an amazing experience.
Our school gave us one weeks of holiday for Thanksgiving. Seems a lot. And really, I thought I could have a whole week to relax. But oh no, I didn't. It was probably one of the most exciting weeks I have had in the US.
